The threat of thunder showers held off long enough for the Carolina Catmen to hold their tournament on Lake Monticello this Saturday. One of the most perfect days for fishing on Big Monty, overcast skies, 68 degree water , 78 degree high , & low to no wind. Yes I said low to no wind. Drifting produced numbers of 2 to 8 lbers but for the big fish anchoring seemed to be the ticket. Grizzard & Treadfin Shad as well as Bream were the baits most used by the anglers. Water depths varied greatly from the teens to 100 ft. The wind conditions were the big subject of the day. The wind was pretty strong just before blast off, but when 6:30 rolled around calm water was the scene and pretty much stayed that way the rest of the tournament. 9 Teams turned out to compete on Big Monty and all but 2 weighed in full limits, the 2 that didn’t weigh did claim to have their 5 but just didn’t weigh -in. The Carolina Catmen would like to thank all the Teams that came out to fish this tournament. The Carolina Catmen would also like to thank Scott Hartley of SC Backwoods (our 2010 points Sponsor) for coming out and joining us for the weigh-in.
